After the Inca Trail we went back to Cusco, and from there we left for another series of visits in the Valle Sagrado, the Inca’s sacred valley. We first met the woman of the Chinchero cooperative working the alpaca wool, then we moved to the Chinchero market, then to its Inca constructions, then to Mirai’s, then to the salt mine of Maras, then to Ollantaytambo, then to Pisaq. Was it great? Yes. Was it too much for a single day? Also yes. There’s a price to pay for wanting to see too many things in too little time, and is that lethal mixture of exhaustion and boredom than took M. and myself after the n-th Inca’s site. On our side at least we had the usual rounds of mate de coca to fortify at least the body, if not the spirit. Ah, and for the first time we also saw live cuy, until then we only got them roasted on our plates. Are they cute? Yes. Did we regret having eaten them? Not a bit! 😉 And, at the end of such a long day, there was a night bus waiting for us in Cusco. Direction: the Amazon!

Indeed I did, and more than once: they are basically on all Peruvian restaurant menus! 😉
